Knox County Sheriff's Office warns of scams

Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler is warning citizens about various SCAMS currently circulating.

Sheriff Spangler wants to make citizens aware the Knox County Sheriff's Office will NOT call you about Jury Duty, Delinquent Property, or Business Taxes.

Citizens should ALWAYS do their due diligence in verifying if a person or business reaches out to them.  One way to do this is to look up the number for the business or government entity and call them yourself.

Sheriff Spangler cautions NOT to call or email a number or email address that the potential scammer has provided you.

KCSO handles all warrant services for Knox County, both civil and criminal.  If you want to verify the validity of either of those, you may call 865-215-2243. KCSO Records/LEIDS Unit will assist you in the verification. If there is a warrant for your arrest, it does make it more efficient for you to turn yourself in.  However, KCSO still makes house calls!

Lastly, if you feel you have been a victim of a scam, please call to file a police report.
