Investiture of Judge Kyle Hixson Set For December 15


The investiture of Judge Kyle Hixson to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals is set for Thursday, December 15.

Governor Bill Lee will administer the oath of office. The ceremony will take place in the main courtroom.


Judge Hixson joined the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals on September 1 of this year after being appointed by Governor Bill Lee and unanimously confirmed by the General Assembly. The Court of Criminal Appeals is a 12-person court that hears appeals in criminal cases from across the state. Prior to his appointment to the appellate court, Hixson served as Criminal Court Judge for the Sixth Judicial District (Knox County). Before that, he served in the Knox County District Attorney's Office as Deputy District Attorney. Judge Hixson earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law and a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was raised outside of Crossville, where his family owned and operated M.A. Hixson's Grocery.
