Nature's statues

By Ralphine Major

I never cease to be amazed by their grace and beauty.  Oftentimes, I have shared with Focus readers photos of nature.  One of my favorite subjects is the white-tailed deer so often seen in the East Tennessee area.   With winter soon taking over from the autumn season, it is the time of year especially when pictures of deer may be seen on Christmas cards and wall décor.

A few days ago, I spotted a couple of deer near some brush.  With caution, I stepped toward them knowing that one more step could cause them to bolt.  They seemed to be looking straight at me.  Amazingly, the deer accommodated me for an entire couple of minutes.  They stood as still as statues as I inched ever so cautiously toward them, clicking a series of images from a distance.  So motionless were the deer that I began to wonder if they were going to run away at all.  These magnificent animals can dash at record speeds across open fields and over fences.  What a delight to watch them!  The wonder of the white-tailed deer—what beauty nature affords us!  It was God's gift for the day!

Words of Faith: "And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so." Genesis 1:24 (KJV).
