KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— The Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs will team up with DICK'S House of Sport to pay tribute to all Knox County TSSAA State Championship winning teams.

The 2021-22 sports seasons winners – including athletes, family members, coaches, athletic directors, and school administrations – will attend the ESPN-style, red carpet event from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 13, where they will be recognized and honored for their accomplishments.

"The hard work and dedication it takes to be a competitive athlete is significant and should be celebrated," Mayor Jacobs said.

The six teams invited include:

• Hardin Valley Academy's Boys' Cross Country

• Knoxville Catholic's Girls' Volleyball

• Powell High School's Football

• Christian Academy of Knoxville's Boys' Golf

• Bearden High School's Girls' Soccer and Basketball teams

Chick-Fil-A, Krispy Kreme, The Knoxville Ice Bears, D1 Sports, Spyre Sports Group, and the Tennessee Orthopedic Centers will sponsor the event.

Joel Silverberg of the Knoxville Ice Bears will emcee the program, which includes a welcome from Mayor Jacobs before the keynote speaker Jayson Swain, former University of Tennessee Volunteers and NFL Chicago Bears football player.

Officials also will recognize the DICK'S House of Sport Leadership Team, which is made up of athletes nominated by their coaches for exhibiting strong character and leadership qualities throughout the season while overcoming adversity.
