Mayor Jacobs: Parks Will Host Spring 'Camporee' at Melton Hill

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, with the assistance of Knox County Parks & Recreation, is launching a weekend-long immersive camping experience in April at Melton Hill Park (3230 Williams Bend Road).

The camping event, which takes place April 28-30, will feature interactive nature programming for kids and adults, a sunset movie and local band campfire jam session, water sport rentals, and an information command center that details potential plans for Melton Hill Park.

The event is free and open to the public, but camping sites are limited and pre-registration for a tent or group camping site is required. Only those registered will be allowed to camp, and alcohol is not permitted.

"Knox County has a host of recreational assets and incredible parks," said Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs. "Recreation is about more than green space, so I am thrilled to see our Parks & Recreation team create new experiences to highlight the best of our community has to offer."

"These events are about togetherness," said Parks & Recreation Senior Director Joe Mack. "We expect this weekend to be a success and look forward to what the future holds for other events and experiences like this one."
