Game On Against Cancer set for Friday, June 17

Local celebrities to play darts, corn hole, and more to benefit patients of Thompson Cancer Survival Center

Tickets are on sale now for Game On Against Cancer, an event featuring games, music, food, beverages and a silent auction to benefit local cancer patients in need. Local celebrities will gather for this annual fundraiser benefiting Thompson Cancer Survival Center, a member of Covenant Health. The event will take place Friday, June 17, at The Wakefield Corporation from 6 – 10 p.m. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, which has raised over $650,000 to support the patients and families of Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

Attendees have the opportunity to challenge friends or favorite local celebrity to a game of table tennis, billiards, air hockey, darts, shuffleboard, corn hole or blackjack. A list of local celebrities planning to attend is available at GameOnAgainstCancer.org.

The event is open to the public for $50 per person and tickets are on sale now. Admission includes food, drink, and game play with local celebrities for a good cause.

Scott Warwick, president and chief administrative officer of Thompson Cancer Survival Center, said, "The community's support and involvement in this fundraiser is always inspiring. Last year alone, we were able to provide financial assistance to more than 800 patients for medications, medical supplies, housing, and transportation needs. These funds are an invaluable resource to our patients who are trying to manage the physical, emotional, and financial impact of a cancer diagnosis and treatment."

Warwick continued, "Thompson Cancer Survival Center's goal is to continue advancing the vision originally cast by the center's founder, B. Ray Thompson. We strive to offer the highest quality of care available for the people of East Tennessee by providing the most advanced diagnostic tools and treatment methods and hiring an expert multidisciplinary team of providers."

Erin Wakefield, CEO of The Wakefield Corporation and 2022 'Game On Against Cancer' committee chair, said, "I lost my father to cancer six years ago. Now, I work to honor his legacy both at The Wakefield Corporation and in my community volunteer work. That includes my service as a member of the Thompson Cancer Survival Center Foundation board of directors.

"Cancer has touched all of our lives in some way and I want to do my part to help those battling the disease here in East Tennessee."

Tickets for 'Game On Against Cancer' are on sale to the public now. Admission is $50 per person and includes unlimited game play, one celebrity match game token, one food ticket and one wine/beer ticket. Additional celebrity matches can be purchased for $10 each. A Date Night package is available for $125, which includes admission for two, six celebrity match game tokens, six wine/beer drink tickets and six food tickets.

Attendees can use their food tickets to enjoy items from food trucks, including CJ's Tacos Food Truck, Frussie's Deli Mobile Truck, Bayou Bites Food Truck and Good Hombres Food Truck.
