Five Points Up coalition hosts annual East Knoxville Community Cleanup

The Five Points Up coalition, in partnership with the Knox County Health Department, will host its annual community cleanup in East Knoxville on May 20. The event will take place from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., with participants meeting at the Eternal Life Harvest Center parking lot (2410 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue).

"The purpose of the event falls in line with the mission of Five Points Up to beautify and unify East Knoxville," said Derek Tate, Co-Chair of Five Points Up. "We've seen hundreds of people come out in support of this event in the past and we are excited to see the same response this year."

The event is free and open to the public. All cleaning supplies, including pickers, vests, and garbage bags will be provided. There will also be food and live music as well as a special opportunity for youth to safely collect waste from tobacco products like cigarette butts and vape pens to win special prizes.

Five Points Up is a community-led group, in partnership with the Knox County Health Department, and is supported by the City of Knoxville, East Knox Lions Club, Smoke-Free Knoxville, and other community partners. The group's mission is to reduce health inequities in the Five Points neighborhood through community-building events and projects.
