Enjoy Christmas!

Enjoy Christmas!

By Ralphine Major

We made them every year. Creamy butter mints made from a recipe our mother found were a Christmas treat!  Sometimes they were made for other occasions, but always at Christmas.  The green and pink mints were made in the shape of stars.  I have not made the tasty mints in many years, but my friend Beth reminded me of them recently.  Perhaps many would like to have the beauty of a white Christmas as a traditional setting for the holiday.  But in the South, snow is not always a sure thing in December.  The year of the pandemic gave us a blanket of white like shown in the picture here.

Family traditions make Christmas special and often seem to give more meaning to the season.  Some traditions may include hanging favorite ornaments on the tree year after year, going caroling and later enjoying a time of fellowship over cups of hot cocoa, singing the timeless Christmas carols that are so much a part of our culture, and experiencing Christmas through the inspirational programs as churches present the story of the Christ Child's birth.  Whatever your traditions, may you be surrounded by the love of family and friends this Christmas.  Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Words of Faith: "And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them." Luke 2:20 (KJV).

"Piddle Diddle's Lost Hat" —"Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, Goes to Hawaii" —"Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, and the Texas Longhorns" —"Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, and the Birthday Drone" —and "Piddle Diddle, the Widdle Penguin, and the Synchronous Fireflies of the Great Smoky Mountains" make great gifts for young minds!
