A Loss for Country Music

By Ralphine Major

I saw them early in their career.  The Judds came to Knoxville during the Tennessee Valley Fair and performed at the Homer Hamilton Theatre.  I happened to be nearby when they exited the bus and got a quick picture.

The mother/daughter duo captivated country music fans with their unique harmony and incredible story.  Naomi, a nurse, and her teenage daughter Wynonna graced the stages of country music venues across the nation and entertained millions with their string of No. 1 hit songs.

The Kentucky natives often shared about their rise to fame and the struggles they faced.  Sadly, they had to disband a few years into their stellar career when Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis.  Recently, fans were stunned when the news broke that Naomi had passed away due to mental health issues.  What a tremendous loss.  Many prayers for the family of this country music icon during their days of grief.

Words of Faith: "Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast." Psalm 57:1 (KJV).
