The United Nations Security Council has been debating the attempted bombings of a Russian-controlled nuclear power plant in Southern Ukraine. While speaking at the UNSC meeting Thursday, the Russian delegation alleged the station has been targeted by Ukrainian militants and said the attacks must stop.

The director of International Atomic Energy Agency said there is no risk of nuclear incidents at the station right now. Russian diplomats spoke in support of IAEA's statement and they also invited UN experts to visit the station.

"And now it's so obvious what is happening and even the Western sponsors of Kiev did not dare to say anything, which they initially sort of tried to say as if Russia is shelling itself, is shelling its own personnel," stated Vassily Nebenzia, UN Ambassador – Russia. "That depends on the Ukrainian side, they first of all should stop shelling the station, which they are doing. Recklessly..."

Russia and Ukraine have been trading blame for the shelling, but it's not clear who is responsible. The Biden administration and Ukraine called on Russia to transfer control of the station back to the Ukraine government.
