Elizabeth Warren: America may never ‘be ready for a male president again’ after Trump

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) told a group of women gathered at Wednesday’s annual fundraising gala for Emily’s List that she’s not sure if America will elect a man after President Donald Trump’s term ends.

Warren, the keynote speaker, said now is the time to be proactive as democratic women. Emily’s List is an organization that helps forward the education and election of politically-minded, exclusively pro-choice female candidates.

“We’re going to shatter the glass ceiling into so many pieces that the Donald Trumps and Mitch McConnells of the world will never be able to put it back together again!” Warren told the crowd. “The way things are going, if the next three years and 261 days are like Donald’s first 100 days — I wonder if America will ever be ready for a male president again.”

Warren said that she isn’t planning on backing down anytime soon, fueling reports that she is considering a 2020 run against Trump.

“Donald Trump might call us names,” Warren said. “Mitch McConnell [R-Ky.] might tell us to sit down and shut up. We will not back down. We will not play dead. We will resist. We will persist. And we will win.”

Warren has avoided answering any questions about a possible run against the president in 2020.

During an appearance in April on NBC’s “Today Show,” an interview set to discuss Warren’s most recent book — “This Fight Is Our Fight: The Battle to Save America’s Middle Class” — Warren dodged]A 1-Year-Old Who Can Snowboard? Yes — and There’s Adorable Video – TheBlaze[/url] the presidential inquiry entirely when grilled by Savannah Guthrie.

“Now, it’s tradition to be coy about that in Washington, but where’s your mind about that right now, are you 50/50, 80/20?” Guthrie asked Warren. “Where do you stand? Are you likely to run?”

Warren answered, “No, this is not what I’m doing. This is my 11th book. My life’s work is about what is happening to working families across this country.”

“OK, but did you say no, not likely to run?” Guthrie pressed, intent on getting an answer from the Massachusetts senator.

“I am running in 2018 for senator from Massachusetts,” Warren deferred. “I am deeply blessed that the people of the commonwealth sent me to Washington to fight for them, and that’s what I’ll keep on doing.”
